Dining enthusiasts in Lafayette, California can now indulge at El Talpense Restaurant, which has recently opened its doors for business.
El Talpense Mexican Restaurant Opens in Lafayette
El Talpense Mexican Restaurant has made its grand entrance in Lafayette, taking over the former Lavash spot on Mount Diablo Boulevard. This new addition to the local dining scene is the second location for the restaurant, following its original site in Berkeley.
The new restaurant has maintained much of the previous layout of Lavash, including its popular sidewalk terrace. Inside, the walls are adorned with traditional Mexican decorations in bright red-orange colors, and colorful papel picado banners decorate both the interior and exterior of the restaurant.
El Talpense offers a wide range of traditional Mexican dishes, including combination plates, burritos, salads, and soups. Appetizers include nachos, quesadillas, jalapenฬo poppers, and larger plates like fajitas and botanas (snack platters). The "Super Burrito" section of the menu offers hearty options filled with various proteins.
Entrees at El Talpense are approximately $20, making it relatively pricier compared to other classic Mexican restaurants in Lafayette. However, the restaurant's unique atmosphere and authentic Mexican cuisine may justify the higher price point for some diners.
The leadership of El Talpense Mexican Restaurant in Lafayette was taken over by Juan Carlos Gonzalez before the opening. The restaurant is located at 3576 Mount Diablo Blvd., Lafayette, and is open daily for lunch and dinner.
