Discouraging Update: Continued Gas Interruptions Affect 500 Homes in Koblenz-Lütz

In the Koblenzer district of Lützel, around 500 households are currently experiencing a disruption in their gas supply. The cause of this inconvenience can be traced back to a water pipe burst that occurred on Saturday in Mayener Straße, as reported by Merkurist.

The water pipe burst allowed water to enter the gas network, causing damage to the gas pipeline. This incident has led to the challenging task of draining the water from the network, a process that has proven difficult so far.

Energienetze Mittelrhein (enm), a network company of the Energieversorgung Mittelrhein (evm group), is leading the restoration efforts. Their employees, along with the handcraft subsidiary evm Service GmbH deployed for installation work in Mayener Straße, are working tirelessly to rectify the situation. In Karl-Russell-Straße, Koblenzer Wohnbau together with an installation company are handling checks.

The 'pigging' method, a special procedure that involves pushing a 'pig' through the pipeline network to absorb water and clean the pipes from the inside, is being used to remove water from the gas network in the Koblenzer district of Lützel. This is the first time enm has used this method in this district.

Despite the water pipe being repaired on the same day, access to all household connection rooms is required for enm employees to perform home visits and shut off and reactivate individual household gas connections. Once the gas network is operational again, each household connection will need to be reactivated individually.

Affected households are being kept informed about the details via information letters from enm. The company is also working on offering affected residents the possibility of warm showers in the coming days.

Enermetze Mittelrhein (enm) successfully used the 'pigging' method during the flood disaster in the Ahr valley, demonstrating their expertise in managing such complex situations. The company is hopeful that this method will yield positive results in Lützel as well, and the gas supply disruption can be resolved as soon as possible.

The gas supply disruption to approximately 500 households in the Koblenzer district of Lützel is expected to continue until the weekend, causing a temporary inconvenience for the affected residents. The community's patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as enm works diligently to restore the gas supply.
