At the 2025 Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), two extraordinary portraits were unveiled, honouring the country's leadership. These unique diamond-encrusted portraits of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, created by contemporary artist Fakhri Tarbin, owner of UAE-based Sam & Bros, have drawn large crowds and praise for their blend of fine art and innovative design.
The portraits, presented in 24-carat gold-plated frames decorated with gilded wood, were crafted with over 360 carats of natural diamonds. The portrait of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed contains nearly 184 carats of diamonds, while the portrait of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid features around 180 carats.
The idea behind these timeless pieces was to create portraits that would remain enduring, as enduring as the diamonds themselves. For artist Fakhri Tarbin, the project was a tribute to the UAE's leadership and a symbol of artistic innovation.
The process of selecting the finest diamonds took 12 months, followed by six months of continuous artistic execution. The total carat count of diamonds in the portraits was not specified.
Visitors at ADIHEX praised the portraits, underscoring the exhibition's role as a hub for artistic innovation. Fakhri Tarbin, the artist behind these masterpieces, added that the project marks a global artistic achievement.
Tarbin's work with diamond-studded portraits of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is not his first such endeavour. His reputation as a skilled artist in this field is well-established.
