A tree toppled onto the overhead line between Kiel and Neumünster early Monday morning, causing a disruption in train traffic that has persisted since then. This was reported by NDR.

As of midday and evening, no new information regarding the resolution of the disruption has been provided. The power outage at Kiel Hauptbahnhof, which is also affecting train services, is not mentioned in this update.

Lines RE 7 and RE 70 are only running on partial sections, with trips between Kiel and Neumünster completely cancelled. All ICE trains between Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and Kiel Hauptbahnhof have been cancelled in both directions.

Passengers should expect delays of up to an hour due to the disruption. Replacement traffic has been set up for passengers on the Kiel to Neumünster route, with five replacement buses shuttling between the two cities. Between Kiel and Flintbek, bus line 790 is in operation as an alternative.

For passengers heading to Hamburg, it is advised to use lines RE 74 and RB 75 to Rendsburg and continue from there with the RE 7. All connections to and from Kiel, both in regional and long-distance traffic, are affected.

Experts from Deutsche Bahn (DB) are investigating the damage to determine the length of repairs on the track. A first prognosis for the resolution of the disruption is expected by midday. The expert determination of the repair time for the section between Kiel and Neumünster will be conducted by the responsible railway infrastructure company or an appointed engineering consultancy specializing in railway operations.

The North Railway is also affected by the disruption. The company is providing current information online for passengers' convenience. The disruption is expected to be resolved by evening.
