Divine Sanctuary: A Place of Pure Serenity
The much-anticipated wa Festival is set to return to Düsseldorf, taking place at 11 Flurstraße from August 30th to September 8th. The inner courtyard at this location will serve as the main hub for most of the festival's events, with a stage set up for performances and a lounge tent for relaxation and reflection.
The festival kicks off with the opening act, "Celestial Beings", a collaborative project between young performers from Düsseldorf and Windhoek, Namibia. Petra Kron, founder and director of Kabawil, explains that the starting point of this production was the question "Who can freely choose how they want to live?"
Beyond "Celestial Beings", the wa Festival offers a variety of program highlights, including dance, music, performances, photography, exhibitions, workshops, and interactive events. Visitors can expect a diverse lineup of artists and groups, with the musical and performative event at Flurstraße 11 on Thursday, September 3 at 6 pm yet to be announced.
Apart from the performances, the wa Festival also features a series of photography exhibitions and workshops. The lounge tent, a popular spot for visitors to relax and reflect on their experiences, will be available throughout the festival.
On September 3rd, at 6 PM, a "Flingern Walk" will take place, led by musician Stefan Schneider and Marina Lukas. The destination of this walk remains a secret, adding an element of excitement to the festival's itinerary.
The wa Festival promises to be a celebration of art, culture, and community, providing opportunities for relaxation, reflection, and engagement. Whether you're a local or a visitor, there's something for everyone at this year's wa Festival. So mark your calendars and get ready for a week of unforgettable experiences!
