Dramatic Performances Taking Place at Bürgerhaus Buckenberg-Haidach Youth Theater
On the 28th of April, 2023, Bürgerhaus Buckenberg-Haidach played host to a special theater event organised by Junges Theater Pforzheim. The event, which was free for all families, was made possible through the funding of the "Prevention Network Child Poverty". This initiative, coordinated by the team of youth welfare planning Pforzheim, is funded by the state program "Strong Children Opportunities" until the end of 2024, with funding coming from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration in Baden-Württemberg.
The event, which marked a low-threshold entry into the world of theater for the participating children, attracted over 80 young attendees. The play, titled "The Little Yellow Dog", offered a unique exploration of the theme of loneliness from two perspectives - that of Mona and the little yellow dog.
Mona, a character in the play, was portrayed as a hand puppet. The story follows Mona and the little yellow dog as they attempt to deal with their loneliness through mutual support. The children were actively involved in the play, particularly when asked about life and friendship by the character Mona.
Following the performance, the children were treated to a buffet featuring fruit salad and vegetable sticks with dip. The highlight of the post-show gathering was an opportunity for the children to examine the little yellow dog up close.
The event was well received by families, leading to plans for future theater days. The goal of these future theater days is to continue the initiative of providing accessible theater experiences for families in Pforzheim, aiming to enable cultural participation for all Pforzheim families.
The sponsor of the theater event was the City of Pforzheim, and the joint cooperation for the event included Stadttheater Pforzheim, family centers Pforzheim, and youth welfare planning. The "Prevention Network Child Poverty" is scheduled to continue receiving funding until the end of 2024, ensuring that more such events can be organised in the future.
