Dramatic trailer unveils Apple's "F1" flick featuring Brad Pitt, exposing the tense moments in racing
The highly anticipated racing drama, 'F1', is set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025. Produced by Apple, the movie promises an intense and thrilling ride, showcasing the world of Formula One like never before.
Brad Pitt stars as veteran driver Sonny Hayes, with Damson Idris taking on the role of Joshua Pearce. The movie's plot is reminiscent of the 2001 film "Driven," with Pitt and Formula One replacing Sylvester Stallone and CART.
Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, a Formula One legend himself, is among the movie's producers. Hamilton's involvement extends beyond the production, as he also did a track day with Pitt for the movie and advised director Joseph Kosinski on camera positions for filming at Formula One events.
Kosinski, who previously impressed with aerial combat shots in "Top Gun: Maverick," is at the helm of 'F1'. His direction is evident in the trailers released so far, which indicate he has achieved similar feats with the on-track action of Formula One. Two trailers have been unveiled, one during Super Bowl Sunday, and another full-length trailer on Thursday.
The movie features a fictional APXGP team and boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo, although their roles are not specified.
The modified single-seaters used for filming act as good stand-ins for actual Formula One cars, and the trailers show clips that appear suitably intense. Filming for 'F1' will continue at other races during the 2024 season, concluding at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.
Notably, the movie will have fewer CGI crowds than in "Ford v. Ferrari," as it benefits from Formula One's unprecedented access, including filming at actual race weekends. Guenther Steiner, the now-departed Haas team boss, even makes a cameo in the movie.
Hamilton's fellow Formula One champion, Lewis Hamilton, is also among the movie's producers. The movie is set to release in North America on June 27, 2025, promising an exciting and authentic portrayal of the world of Formula One.
