Drunk Driving Incident on A30 Results in Charges for Two Drivers

Two drivers, aged 22 and 29, found themselves in trouble with the law after separate incidents of drunk driving on the A30 and in the city of Bielefeld.

On the A30, a 29-year-old driver from Minden lost control of his Mercedes C-Class, flipping the vehicle. Witnesses reported the driver as being drunk at the time of the incident. The driver refused to get into a police car for a blood test, resulting in a physical altercation with an officer. The officer sustained a slight injury but was able to continue working. The driver's car was towed away by a tow truck, and his driver's license was seized. No further details about the incident are provided in this paragraph.

In a separate incident on Eckendorfer Straße in Bielefeld on December 15, 2024, a 22-year-old individual refused to leave his car during a police stop. He was driving a Fiat Punto and was reported to be driving erratically on Ostring and Eckendorfer Straße. The 22-year-old resisted by swinging his arms but did not hit anyone during the police encounter. He was subsequently charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest. The 22-year-old spent the night in police custody to sober up.

Both drivers have been charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest. The authority responsible for traffic monitoring on the A30 and in the city centers of Bielefeld and Minden is the local Ordnungsamt (Public Order Office). In Bielefeld, the Bußgeldstelle (fines office) specifically handles traffic violations, and can be contacted at Nikolaus-Dürkopp-Str. 16, 0521 - 521510.

Press inquiries can be directed to the Police Headquarters Bielefeld's Press and Public Relations department. The public is reminded to always drive responsibly and never under the influence of alcohol.
