Dusseldorf's Fools' Prank Gathering Features Musical Performances and Dance Exhibitions
The KG Düsseldorf-Narren hosted a grand gala session on Friday, February 21st, at the Barbarasaal, marking the start of the 2025/26 carnival season. The event was a vibrant spectacle of music, dance, and speeches, led by Marcus Hülscher.
The trinity of the Narrischen Schmetterlinge, Michel Caltagirone, Virgin Kristaps, and Farmer Christoph, graced the event with their presence. Michel Caltagirone, this year's prince at the KG Düsseldorf-Narren, was celebrated for his 11-year membership.
The guests showed their text knowledge and singing enthusiasm, with performances by Heinz Hulshoff, the rhythm sports group, and Hermes with the band. The children's dance guard received much applause and involved the board in their performance, who dressed up as bees for the Maja dance.
The dance corps Rot-Weiß Bechen and the Blue Royal Gardetanz corps were also part of the event, with the Blue Royals having their own singer. Firefighter Kresse and Oli the Köbes were responsible for the speech part of the gala session, with Oli getting the whole hall to sing along to "The Little Tavern".
The Düsseldorf Originals brought their dance guard and performed the show "200 Years of Carnival". The youth of Düsseldorf-Narren, including flag twirlers and a children's dance guard with an average age of six, participated in the event.
Heinz Hulshoff, known for his adaptations, changed the lyrics of the song "Drink one with" to "Go to the polls" in reference to the federal election. The dance corps Rot-Weiß Bechen and the Blue Royal Gardetanz corps also added to the festive atmosphere with their lively performances.
