Dyson introduces its initial desktop air purifier, a design reminiscent of a jet engine, fortunately, significantly quieter in operation.

Dyson, the renowned technology company, has unveiled its latest innovation - the HushJet Purifier Compact. This new addition to the Dyson family is set to hit the market early next year, with a design and features aimed at addressing common issues with traditional air purifiers and stick vacuums.

The HushJet Purifier Compact, Dyson's first desktop air purifier, boasts a footprint of 9.1 inches (23 cm) in diameter, placing it in the same size range as other Dyson purifiers. However, its compact nature is somewhat deceptive, as it's not small enough to sit naturally on a desk.

At the heart of the HushJet Purifier Compact is a new star-shaped nozzle, inspired by jet engines and hair dryer concentrator nozzles. This innovative design element allows for the principle of entrainment, drawing air in from the surrounding region and encouraging it to join the fast jet of air expelled by the purifier.

Dyson engineer Sophie Harold, based in the United Kingdom, explained that the new star nozzle allows for entrainment without a gap in the middle, reducing turbulence and leading to a quieter operation.

One of the most significant advantages of the HushJet Purifier Compact is its energy-efficient electrostatic HEPA filter, which lasts up to 5 years. This extended lifespan results in less ongoing cost for filter replacements.

The HushJet Purifier Compact also uses a fully sealed system, ensuring that anything that's sucked up remains inside. This design addresses a common issue with stick vacuums, where debris can escape back into the environment.

Pricing and release date information for the HushJet Purifier Compact in the US and Australia is yet to be announced. In the UK, the purifier is scheduled to go on sale early next year.

While Dyson has also released a new, unexpectedly large robot vacuum, the spotlight remains on the HushJet Purifier Compact. With its innovative design and energy-efficient features, it promises to be a game-changer in the air purifier market.
