Eggs withdrawn from the market due to salmonella contamination, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports
In a recent announcement, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has called for a recall of eggs produced by California-based company, Country Eggs. This decision comes following reports of illnesses in at least 95 people across 14 states.
The affected individuals have consumed eggs sold under the Country Eggs brand, as well as Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho, and Nijiya Markets. However, the responsible entity behind these latter brands has not been publicly disclosed in the available information.
The recall is prompted by the potential threat of salmonella, a bacterium that can cause severe foodborne illnesses. Regrettably, more than a dozen individuals have been hospitalized due to their illnesses, but no fatalities have been linked to this recall as of yet.
The eggs in question were sold between June 16 and July 9. They include "Sunshine Yolks" and "Omega-3 Golden Yolks," which have been implicated in the outbreak.
Consumers who have purchased these eggs are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a refund. The FDA encourages all individuals to handle eggs safely and to cook them thoroughly to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses.
The FDA is actively investigating the source of the contamination and will provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, the public is urged to exercise caution when consuming eggs and to follow food safety guidelines to protect themselves and their families.
