Elder Cycling Enthusiasts in Borken's Community
The Circular Police Department in Borken, Germany, has announced the launch of a new initiative called "Senior Cycling." This program, aimed at promoting safety and prevention among seniors, will take place regularly in the future.
Registration for the inaugural event can be done by phone at 02861-900-6161. The kick-off event is scheduled for 28th August 2025 in Gronau, with the first official event taking place on 25th September 2025 in Borken.
The German Red Cross (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) in Kreis Borken has been identified as one of the participating organisations in this project. Known for their engagement with seniors in community activities, their involvement in "Senior Cycling" is a natural fit.
The program focuses on providing tips on behaviour at intersections, roundabouts, bike lane usage, helmet usage, lights, and traffic-safe equipment. Route guidance will be based on current accident hotspots in the circular area, ensuring participants are well-informed about potential risks.
Expert discussions on critical traffic situations will also be a part of the program, offering an opportunity for participants to learn from professionals and ask questions. The concept is limited to a maximum of twelve participants to cater to individual needs.
Further "Senior Cycling" events are scheduled for 9th October 2025 in the Bocholt area and 30th October 2025 in the Ahaus area.
