Elderly female resident viciously assaulted and restricted in her apartment dwelling

In an alarming incident that occurred on Monday afternoon, a robbery attempt was made on an 85-year-old resident's row house on Am Staatsforst Straße. At around 12:30 PM, two men, one of whom was initially identified as a handyman, forced their way into the woman's home.

The handyman, who the elderly woman recognised from a previous visit where he claimed to be reading the meter, was accompanied by a second man. Both men were dressed in dark clothing and appeared to be between 20 and 30 years old. The handyman spoke flawless German, and the second man physically restrained the elderly woman and silenced her with duct tape.

During the incident, the robbers attempted to open the woman's safe using a cutting tool. However, their plan was foiled when the woman's phone rang, causing them to abandon their attempt. The elderly woman managed to free herself and call for help after the robbers left. She sustained minor injuries, specifically ligation marks.

The second man is about 1.70 meters tall and heavyset. He has tattoos on his arms, extending to his wrists. The man who was present during the robbery attempt wears a round face and a three-day beard.

It is assumed that the men arrived and fled by vehicle. The police are urgently seeking witnesses who observed something suspicious between 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM on Monday, or in the days leading up to the incident. Any observations of apparent handyman activity could be relevant to the investigation.

Anyone with such observations is asked to contact the responsible robbery squad, KK 13, of the police at 0211-8700. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Let's ensure the safety of our community together.
