Elderly Hattinger is now in the custody of a swindler, as confirmed by Polish police.
In the Ennepe-Ruhr District, a 91-year-old resident of Hattingen was defrauded on August 15, 2025, at approximately 13:00. The incident took place at the resident's residence.
The fraud involved a call from a person claiming to be from the bank, asking the resident to withdraw a low five-figure sum in different denominations. Throughout the withdrawal process, there was constant telephone contact between the resident and the perpetrator.
After withdrawing the money, a woman posing as a bank employee collected the cash from the resident's residence. However, the person who disguised themselves as a bank employee remains unknown.
The Ennepe-Ruhr District Police Headquarters is investigating the fraud incident. The resident, believing the person was genuine, complied with the request and withdrew the money. The Criminal Police have taken up the investigation, but the identity of the perpetrator has not been disclosed in the referenced reports.
