Elected Leader of Passau's Regional Court

In a significant event on February 28, 2025, Gisela Schwack paid an inaugural visit to Mayor Jürgen Dupper, marking her official assumption of the leadership of the Passau Regional Court.

Gisela Schwack, who has had a distinguished career in the Bavarian justice system, started her journey in March 1992 at the Munich II Public Prosecutor's Office. After various positions as a public prosecutor and judge, she was appointed director of the Straubing Local Court in 2017 and president of the Deggendorf Regional Court in 2021.

The appointment as the president of the Passau Regional Court, the highest court in Passau, came at the end of December 2024, following the retirement of Rudolf Helmhagen. Gisela Schwack, who lived in Passau for nine years and passed her two state examinations there, is now responsible for the Passau Regional Court, as well as the local courts in Passau and Freyung belonging to its district.

Mayor Jürgen Dupper warmly welcomed Gisela Schwack and expressed his enthusiasm for her new challenge. He emphasized the consistently good contact between the city of Passau and the Passau Regional Court and his endeavor to further promote this excellent cooperation. The mayor wished the new regional court president much success in her new role.

Gisela Schwack succeeded Rudolf Helmhagen as the president of Passau Regional Court and assumed the leadership of the court at the beginning of 2025. From January 1994 to an unspecified date in 1995, she was active at the Commission of the European Communities. After her time at the Commission, she served as a public prosecutor at the Deggendorf Public Prosecutor's Office.
