On September 24, 2025, a traffic safety training session for seniors on e-bikes and pedelecs is scheduled in the city of Euskirchen. This initiative is a collaborative effort between SIE (Senior Citizens in Euskirchen), the Traffic Accident Prevention Department of the County Police, and the company Kraftrad.

The training, which will take place at the Emil-Fischer-Gymnasium schoolyard, is aimed at older individuals due to the increasing number of accidents involving pedelecs or e-bikes. The session, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, is free of charge and open to all interested participants.

Registration is mandatory for the training. Seniors can register with the Senior Citizens' Office of the City of Euskirchen, Claudia Aulmann, by phone at 02251/14-222, or by email at the provided email address. Participants are welcome to bring their own pedelecs (e-bikes) and protective gear, but helmets will be provided for those who do not have their own, courtesy of Oliver Bussmann from the company Kraftrad.

The training will begin with a theoretical introduction by PHK Lydia Huepgen and PHK Joerg Meyer. The session will cover the basics of safe mounting and dismounting, riding, and the specificities involved in e-bike and Pedelec riding. Potential hazards will be highlighted during the training, aiming to address the underestimated impacts of using e-bikes and pedelecs.

The training will also include practical exercises for e-bike and Pedelec riding. These exercises are designed to ensure participants gain hands-on experience in safe riding techniques. The training is meant to promote safety while riding e-bikes and Pedelecs, thereby reducing the risk of accidents among older individuals.

With a minimum participation of 8 persons, this training session promises to be an informative and engaging event for all seniors interested in e-bike and Pedelec safety. So, mark your calendars for September 24, 2025, and join us for a safer and more enjoyable e-biking experience!
