In the bustling city of Neuss, a new mode of transportation has made its debut. Starting from April 6, 2021, Lime, a major eScooter provider, has introduced a fleet of 200 electrically powered scooters.

For those eager to hop on and start scooting, there are some rules to follow. First and foremost, you must be at least 14 years old to use eScooters. Some rental companies may require a higher age.

When it comes to parking, eScooters may not be left on bike paths, shared bike/pedestrian paths, fire access roads, fire movement zones, rail areas, public transport waiting areas, within five meters before and after intersections and entrances, or on handrails, staircases, traffic lights, protected areas, and green areas along the streets. A maximum of five eScooters may be parked at each location.

It's important to note that eScooters are not permitted in certain areas of the city, including main street routes, park and green areas, pedestrian zones, forest and nature conservation areas, playgrounds, cemeteries, Rhine bridges, or other street bridges. Existing bike paths must be used for eScooters where available.

Riding double on an eScooter is not permitted, and using mobile phones while operating eScooters is extremely dangerous and not allowed. Alcohol and drugs are prohibited on eScooters, with the same limits applying as for car drivers. eScooters must not endanger or obstruct third parties, impair traffic safety and fluidity, or impinge on a usable residual sidewalk width of at least 2.0 meters when parked.
