Electric sedan model of BYD, Qin L, reduces its price and introduces a new variant to enhance its appeal in the electric vehicle market.
The Chinese automaker BYD has announced a price reduction for its Qin L EV pure electric sedan and introduced a new variant equipped with the DiSus-C body control system.
The entry-level model of the Qin L EV now delivers 110 kW peak power and 220 Nm peak torque, with a 46.08-kWh battery pack offering a CLTC range of 470 kilometers. The two higher-priced variants, on the other hand, utilize a 56.64-kWh battery pack, each offering a CLTC range of 545 kilometers. All three variants feature single-motor rear-wheel drive.
The new variant, priced at RMB 139,800, comes with the DiSus-C chassis system, which was developed by BYD Auto. This system enhances ride comfort on bumpy roads and improves body stability during cornering and emergency maneuvers. It also features a high-speed tire blowout stability system.
In addition to the new variant, BYD has reduced the price of the Qin L EV by RMB 10,000, making the starting price for the discounted models RMB 109,800 and RMB 119,800.
BYD's DiSus body control system was unveiled on April 10, 2023, and the DiSus-C variant was initially comprised of three variants: the intelligent damping body control system DiSus-C, the intelligent air body control system DiSus-A, and the intelligent hydraulic body control system DiSus-P.
The Qin L EV rivals Tesla's Model 3 in dimensions but targets younger consumers with a lower price point. The Model 3 sold in China has similar dimensions, but with a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.
The Qin family models sold 53,907 units in July, surpassing the Song family to become BYD's top-selling model. However, this represents a 26.70 percent year-on-year decline and a 22.40 percent increase compared to June.
In July, BYD sold 344,296 NEVs, marking a 0.56 percent year-on-year increase but a 10.01 percent decrease from June. This is in line with the overall trend of the electric vehicle market in China, which has been experiencing a slowdown in growth due to various factors such as economic uncertainty and government policy changes.
Earlier this year, BYD introduced DiSus-Z for the Yangwang U7 luxury sedan. This body control system is expected to be rolled out to more BYD models in the future.
The Qin L EV supports fast charging, enabling a charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 24 minutes. It also comes standard with the God's Eye C smart driving system, featuring the DiPilot 100 solution and supports features such as NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) for highways, automated parking, and remote parking.
With the price reduction and the introduction of the new variant, the Qin L EV is poised to attract more customers and further strengthen BYD's position in the electric vehicle market.
