Electric vehicle charging infrastructure development increases, aiming at London's 2034 zero-emission goal
In a significant move towards a greener future, EO Charging, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has formed a partnership with Horizon Energy Ventures. This collaboration aims to accelerate the rollout of electric bus charging facilities in London, supporting the city's ambition to fully electrify its public transport network by 2034.
Richard Staveley, CEO of EO Charging, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are committed to accelerating London's journey to a greener future, and this partnership is a significant step in that direction."
The partnership will focus on deploying large-scale, fleet-ready charging hubs under a Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) model. EO Charging's Charge Assurance platform will actively manage operators' energy and flexibility needs, ensuring business-critical fleet outcomes while maintaining sustainability and performance.
The company's Charging-as-a-Service solution, already in use across several depots serving London's electric bus fleet, monitors energy use, grid capacity, and vehicle readiness in real time. This service platform has already been successfully delivered by EO Charging to Transport UK in London, supporting their ongoing electrification program.
EO Charging has a strong track record, having completed over 200 EV fleet projects across the UK and Europe. Their commitment to sustainability is evident, as they remain focused on accelerating the transition to zero-emission fleet transportation.
The partnership between Horizon Energy Ventures and EO Charging also aims to offer fully funded solutions for fleet electrification, making it more accessible. This is particularly relevant as almost half of cars made in the UK in 2025 are expected to be hybrid or electric, while the total number of vehicles produced in the UK is expected to decline.
London operates one of Europe's largest electric bus fleets, with over 1,400 battery electric vehicles. The collaboration between Horizon Energy Ventures and EO Charging will undoubtedly contribute to the city's ongoing efforts to support the transition to greener transportation.
The fourth annual CiTTi Awards, recognising achievements and innovations in EV charging infrastructure, will take place on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. While this event is not directly related to the partnership between Horizon Energy Ventures and EO Charging, it serves as a testament to the growing importance of EV charging infrastructure in the city.
In conclusion, the partnership between Horizon Energy Ventures and EO Charging marks a significant step forward in London's journey towards a greener future. By providing accessible, sustainable, and efficient charging solutions, the collaboration will undoubtedly contribute to the electrification of London's public transport network and the wider transition to zero-emission fleet transportation.
