Mercedes Unveils Electric C-Class EQ: A Leap Forward in Electric Mid-Size Models

Mercedes-Benz has announced the upcoming debut of its first non-SUV electric mid-size model, the C-Class EQ. Set to premiere at the IAA 2025, the electric C-Class is poised to hit the market in 2026.

The C-Class EQ is built upon the MB.EA platform, sharing its platform and powertrain with its SUV sibling, the GLC EQ. While the GLC EQ's grille design has been revealed, the article does not provide further details about it beyond its striking similarity to classic Mercedes models, featuring an iconic grille with four louvers.

The electric C-Class EQ boasts an advanced powertrain, including silicon carbide inverters and a two-speed transmission on the rear axle, aimed at enhancing acceleration and efficiency. It is also equipped with a high-energy-density 94 kWh lithium-ion battery featuring silicon-oxide anodes, similar to those used in the CLA and the GLC EQ.

The electric C-Class EQ is expected to offer an impressive electric range of up to 800 km, a significant increase from its petrol counterpart. This improvement is likely due to its more aerodynamic body. Interestingly, Mercedes promises up to 800 km of range for the electric C-Class, unlike the GLC EQ for which no range specifications were provided.

Despite the lack of information about the battery or charging capabilities of the electric C-Class, it is set to feature an 800-V system capable of charging at up to 330 kW.

Whether Mercedes plans to offer an estate model for the electric C-Class remains unclear. More details about the electric C-Class EQ are expected to be revealed in the coming months.

In the meantime, a teaser image of the electric C-Class has been released, offering a glimpse of its sleek design and the distinctive grille that evokes the brand's rich history. The electric C-Class EQ is set to redefine the electric mid-size segment, cementing Mercedes-Benz's position as a leader in the electric vehicle market.
