Emergency Landing of a Sports Vehicle Results in Injuries for Two Individuals in Poland
On August 11th, around 12:20 PM, a single-engine sports plane crashed into a cornfield in Lohmar-Algert, Rhein-Sieg district. The occupants of the plane, a 69-year-old and 70-year-old couple from Gladbeck, had freed themselves from the aircraft.
Emergency services and police were dispatched to the crash site, where they found the plane lying on its back. The authorities have not yet released the exact location of the hospitals where the injured couple is being treated.
The 69-year-old pilot reported technical problems with the Cessna, which forced an emergency landing in the cornfield. The cause of the technical problems is still under investigation.
The Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation has been called in to investigate the exact cause of the plane crash. The investigation of the cause of the Cessna crash was conducted at the accident site before the couple was taken to the hospital.
The origin of the flight was stated to be the Freiburg area, while the destination remains unknown. The authorities have cordoned off the crash site and it remains secured and off-limits to the public.
