Emergency responders discover illicit substances and armaments following a house fire.
In the quiet town of Leverkusen-Schlebusch, an unusual incident unfolded last Sunday evening, August 17th. A fire was reported and extinguished in an apartment on Bogenstraße. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
However, the incident took a more serious turn when the Criminal Police were called in to investigate. Suspected violations of the Narcotics Act and the War Weapons Control Act were at the heart of their investigation.
Upon investigating the scene, the police found drugs, scales, firearms, including a machine gun, and ammunition in the affected home office. Further investigations revealed that narcotics and ammunition were also secured in other rooms of the apartment.
The resident of the apartment, a 41-year-old man, was arrested on Monday morning at the Wiesdorf police station. The rescue services had to forcefully open the apartment door at around 5:30 PM on Sunday to gain access.
At this point, the cause of the fire remains unclear. Investigations regarding the fire's origin are ongoing. It is worth noting that the home office is currently uninhabitable due to the damage caused by the fire.
The Leverkusen resident, who has so far shown little criminal police activity, will be brought before a judge. The case is a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat illegal activities in our communities.
