On July 7, 2025, at 11:30 AM, a crime occurred on Gildehauser Straße in Gronau, Germany. The Kreispolizeibehörde Borken has issued a warning to the public following the theft of an emergency call bracelet from an elderly man.

According to reports, the crime took place during an encounter with a dark blue car, where a woman asked for directions to the Netherlands. The woman, who was approximately 1.65m tall, had long black hair in a ponytail, and spoke broken German, was involved in the theft.

During the encounter, the woman put a golden ring on the victim's finger before the theft. It is believed that the woman's actions were a ruse to distract the victim, allowing the theft to take place. The stolen emergency call bracelet is typically worn by the elderly to send an emergency call via a red button in case of an accident.

The police are seeking witnesses to the crime and are urging anyone with information to come forward. They are also warning the public to be wary of strangers who may seek physical closeness or unexpectedly hand over objects. The police advise that it is best to maintain a distance from strangers on the street and not engage in conversations with them.

The victim immediately returned the ring after realizing it was a trick, but the emergency call bracelet was not found. The perpetrators fled towards the Netherlands after the theft. The police are continuing their investigation and have urged the public to contact the Kripo Gronau at (02562) 9260 for any information.

Media representatives can contact the Circular Police Authority Borken Press Office at telephone number 02861-900-2222 for more information. The police are reminding the public to stay vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
