Table Media Embraces Deep Journalism and Domain Competence

In the bustling world of journalism, Table Media is making a name for itself by focusing on a new kind of reporting. Founded by Sebastian Turner, the publication is dedicated to "deep journalism" and "domain competence", with a particular emphasis on exploring new topics, especially those related to China.

At the helm of Table Media is Michael Bröcker, the new editor-in-chief, and Helene Bubrowski, the deputy editor-in-chief. Both bring extensive experience to the table, having honed their skills in building newsrooms, podcasts, newsletters, and journalism for demanding audiences.

Their efforts are paying off. Table Media reaches 200,000 recipients daily with its professional briefings, Berlin.Table, 100 Headlines, and Podcast. The journalistic flagship of Table Media is "China.Table", which features twelve China experts, including native speakers.

The competition is fierce, with established players like Handelsblatt diversifying their reporting, Axel Springer's "Berlin Playbook", and Gabor Steingart's "The Pioneer" vying for attention. However, Table Media's focus on depth and expertise seems to be resonating with its audience.

The podcast studio at Table Media, once the kitchen of Sarah Wiener, is located one floor down from the rebuilt Café Einstein. The café, which was transported in four shipping containers between Christmas and New Year, adds a unique touch to the Table Media premises.

Decision-makers also read international media such as the "New York Times" and the "Financial Times". Yet, Table Media's paid briefings have exceeded 1,000 paying institutions, although the exact number of sold licenses is not disclosed.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research has licensed two Table briefings, and the "Tagesspiegel" offers a similar service with eight "Background" briefings, focusing on specialized politics and legislative processes. However, the Tagesspiegel Background is ahead in the field of digitization analysis with China relevance.

Sebastian Turner, the founder and publisher of Table Media, took over the furnishings from the main branch of Café Einstein for Table Media's headquarters. With eleven professional briefings at Table Media, three of which appear daily, it's clear that the publication is committed to providing in-depth, expert analysis on a variety of topics.
