On a chilly Saturday in February, the small town of Angermund came alive with the sound of music, the scent of freshly grilled food, and the cheerful cries of "Düsseldorf Helau!" as the annual 11 Pille event took place at the "De 11 Pille Platz."
This year's event, organised by local mayor Elfi Schmitt-Sieben, saw a multitude of delegations from various dance groups, including the GKG Rheinische Garde Blau-Weiss, the KG Düsseldorf Nordlichter, and the Büdricher Heinzelmännchen, gather together to celebrate and raise funds for the association Altstadtengel at Grabbeplatz.
The event was expertly directed by Sven Reichelt from the stage, who also led a dance course under the motto "We let Angermund dance." Around 35 dance pairs took to the stage to showcase their skills, with the children's prince couple, Prince Alex I. and Venetia Toni, and the prince couple Christoph I. and Venetia Diana I., presenting their eleven witty paragraphs at their coronation in November.
The day was filled with entertainment, with Tim Küsters moderating a colorful program on the stage, and the Angermund marching band providing the perfect soundtrack to the festivities. The ladies of the shooters' penguin group even set up a warmth island for Venetia, ensuring that everyone stayed warm and cosy throughout the day.
Delicious food and drinks were available until the afternoon, with the whole place buzzing with energy and excitement. The event traditionally ended with the Pilleschlager, a beloved tradition that brought everyone together in celebration.
In addition to the dance performances, the event also saw the presentation of a donation to Altstadtengel. The event raised a significant amount of funds, with the dancers and attendees contributing generously to the cause.
Prince Andreas was also present in Angermund, with many other dignitaries and VIPs, including the Velbert prince couple Tim and Patrick, the Sellerie prince David, the Ratingen prince couple Frank and Sabine, the children's prince couple of the Originale Henry and Laura, and the Langenfeld prince couple Manuel and Holger, all making an appearance to show their support for the event.
Overall, the 11 Pille event was a resounding success, bringing together the community of Angermund in a celebration of dance, music, and camaraderie, while also raising funds for a worthwhile cause. The organizers would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to the event, making it a day to remember.
