The city of Gießen is set to kick off its third annual "On-site Energy Production" campaign on September 10, 2025. The campaign, in partnership with the Hessian Energy Agency (LEA Hesse), aims to increase the energy renovation quota and strengthen the living quality and climate protection in the community in the long run.

Mayor Alexander Wright emphasized that the campaign's approach of bringing energy production directly to the neighborhoods has received a great response in previous years. This year, the focus will be on providing specific assistance, especially in areas with high energy-saving potential, to make residential buildings more energy-efficient and climate-friendly.

The campaign will feature on-site consultations during which topics like efficient heat protection, modern heating technology, and the optimal use of renewable energies will be discussed. Interested property owners from the Evangelical Settlement, Professor's Quarter, and two adjacent areas can now register online, by email, or by phone to schedule a consultation appointment.

Guests at the event will learn about the possibilities of a district heating connection and the use of heat pumps in the area. Qualified energy advisors will be available to answer individual questions at the event. Homeowners can receive free, individual energy production directly at their homes as part of the campaign.

The campaign kick-off event will occur on September 10 at 6:00 PM at the Technical University of Middle Hesse's campus (House C14, Eichgärtenallee 3, 35390 Gießen). Mayor Wright will give a welcome speech at the event, followed by a presentation of the campaign. Information stands of Stadtwerke Gießen, Sparkasse Gießen, and Volksbank Mittelhessen will provide further information on energy renovation, funding, and financing options.

The goal of the campaign is to provide practical tips for the next steps in energy efficiency measures for participating homeowners. These initial individual recommendations will help homeowners make their homes more energy-efficient and contribute to the city's climate goals.

For those unable to attend the event, registration is also available via Visited Energy Consultation, email (klimaschutz@giessen.de), or by phone (0641 306-2110). For more information, please visit the city of Gießen's website.
