ENGIE to Deliver £67million Repairs and Maintenance Service in Tamworth

ENGIE, a leading energy and services company, has been appointed by Tamworth Borough Council to provide a comprehensive repairs and maintenance service worth £67million. The contract, which begins on 1 April 2020 and lasts for a ten-year period, will cover more than 4,200 homes across the borough.

Martin Smithurst, Divisional Chief Operating Officer at ENGIE, expressed his pleasure about working with Tamworth Council again. He stated, "We are looking forward to demonstrating our service in Tamworth and helping our partners address their housing, social value, and climate emergency-related priorities."

ENGIE has a proven track record of providing an excellent repairs and maintenance service. In the past, they have been commissioned by various local authorities and housing associations in the UK to carry out repair and maintenance work for residential properties, often working in social housing sectors across different locations in Great Britain.

As part of the contract, ENGIE has committed to a number of social value measures which will benefit the wider community. These measures include improvements to council-owned facilities such as play areas and community buildings. They also include training opportunities and the creation of apprenticeships for local people.

Cllr Michelle Cook, Tamworth Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing Services and Communities, stated that ENGIE was selected after a robust, two-stage procurement process. All submissions were of a high standard, and the winning contractors demonstrated an understanding of Tamworth Borough Council’s needs and instilled confidence in their ability to deliver the service.

The procurement process included external legal and consultative support, interviews involving tenants, and detailed assessments of all elements of the bids submitted. ENGIE's appointment is part of Tamworth Borough Council's commitment to provide high standards of affordable housing for local residents.

ENGIE's Divisional Chief Operating Officer, Martin Smithurst, also expressed his pleasure about working with Tamworth Council again. He stated, "We are delighted to be working with Tamworth Council once more. We are looking forward to demonstrating our service in Tamworth and contributing to the local community."

She stated, "We are pleased to have ENGIE on board to provide these essential services. We are confident that they will deliver a high-quality service and make a positive impact on our community."

ENGIE will provide responsive repairs, adaptations, estate management services, gas maintenance work, day-to-day repairs, out of hours emergency repairs, and the servicing of void properties. The services will be provided across Tamworth Borough, helping to ensure that local residents have access to a reliable and efficient repairs and maintenance service.
