Enhanced Mobile Connectivity in Main-Kinzig District due to Telekom
In the Main-Kinzig District, emergency calls and warnings are now possible at all new and existing mobile network sites, thanks to an ongoing expansion by Telekom. This expansion, aimed at meeting the increasing demand for bandwidth, which is growing by around 30% per year, has seen the deployment of 15 new antenna sites in the last four weeks.
One of these new sites is a 5G site, marking a significant step forward in the district's mobile network technology. The company has also modernized the existing mobile network antennas in Bruchköbel, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve mobile internet coverage in the area.
Telekom currently operates 151 mobile network sites in the Main-Kinzig District, with plans to add 26 new sites over the next three years. The new mobile network coverage now reaches almost 100% of households in the district, ensuring a reliable connection for its residents and visitors.
The mobile network expansion includes the implementation of Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency call technology and the Cell Broadcast warning system. AML automatically transmits the caller's location to the emergency control center when dialling 112, while Cell Broadcast sends danger warnings to mobile phones in the affected radio cell, for example in case of major fires, gas explosions, or floods.
Deutsche Funkturm builds the mobile network sites for Telekom. Interested parties can offer a site for a roof or mast location to Deutsche Funkturm through [www.dfmg.de/standortangebot]. Landlords can also rent space for new mobile network sites to Telekom on a long-term, location-based basis.
Julia della Peruta, Deutsche Telekom spokesperson, confirmed that the company intends to upgrade 59 mobile network sites with LTE or 5G in the Main-Kinzig District. The city where Telekom plans to add 26 additional mobile network sites in the next three years is Dortmund. The company currently has 206 sites there and plans to add 64 more by 2028, which includes the additional 26 sites planned.
Telekom's mobile network in the Main-Kinzig District supports the company's reputation as having the best mobile network in Germany, as confirmed by specialist magazines Chip, connect, ComputerBild, and Imtest. The new mobile network site in Hanau also serves the area along the Frankfurt-Nuremberg railway line, ensuring a strong connection for travellers and commuters.
