Dresden Introduces New Cycling Regulations on Hornschen Straße for Enhanced Safety
The city of Dresden has recently implemented changes to its cycling infrastructure on Hornschen Straße, between Neustadt and Johannettental. This decision, made by the Dresden city council, aims to prioritise safety in traffic-related matters.
In a unanimous decision, the road authority, the regional government, the police, and the Lippe district agreed to adapt the obligation to use both sides on Hornschen Straße. This means that cyclists may now only use pedestrian and cycle paths in the direction of travel. Appropriate markings and signs have been installed to indicate the new regulation.
The city portal, responsible for overseeing the city's traffic management, is aware of the binding decision from the accident commission regarding this adaptation. They emphasise that safety is paramount in all traffic-related decisions.
The city portal also acknowledges that this new regulation may require initial adjustment, particularly for schoolchildren. They assure that they will continue to monitor the situation on Hornschen Straße and incorporate the results into their medium-term plans for the expansion of the road.
Further improvements, such as additional crossing opportunities in the Spork-Eichholz area, are planned for the future to ensure a smooth and safe commuting experience for all road users.
It's important to note that in the opposite direction, these paths are exclusively available to pedestrians. Traffic safety remains a top priority, with safety taking precedence over convenience.
The city portal encourages all road users to adhere to the new regulations and to be patient during this transition period. They are committed to making Dresden's roads safer for everyone.
