Meerbusch Fire Department Acquires New Fire Truck for Forest Fire Fighting

The Meerbusch Fire Department has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of a new fire truck, designated as an "LF-KatS." The symbolic handover of the vehicle took place on a recent occasion, with the Mayor of Meerbusch, Angelika Mielke-Westerlage, and Tim Sohnchen, Deputy Chief of the Meerbusch Fire Department, in attendance.

This new addition to the fire department was funded by the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK). The source of the money used by the Meerbusch fire department to purchase their new LF-KatS is the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Similarly, fire departments in Dormagen and Grevenbroich have also received a fire group vehicle each from the BBK. These vehicles, including the one acquired by Meerbusch Fire Department, are particularly suited for forest fire fighting, given the increased significance of forest fires due to prolonged and hot dry periods in recent years.

The acquisition cost of the new fire truck was €223,000.

The Meerbusch Fire Department's new fire truck is available for regular deployments, large-scale incidents, and regional operations.
