"Enjoying Bicycle Rides with Focus on Security"

In September 2025, the city of Nordhorn will once again host the "Experiencing Safety" cycling tour, an event exclusively for women. This tour, which focuses on traffic safety, crime prevention, urban safety, and addressing fears of crime, is being organised by German activist and expert Anja Milewski, in cooperation with the city's equal opportunities officer.

The tour will commence at the Nordhorn Police Station, located at Wietmarscher StraรŸe 4, and will be led by Police Inspector Jรถrg Reurik and Chief Inspector Uwe van der Heiden from the prevention team of the Nordhorn Police Station. Participants are encouraged to wear bicycle helmets for their safety.

Registration for the tour is requested by September 12, 2025, and can be done via email or phone. The tour itself is free of charge, and participants are asked to bring their own drinks.

Throughout the tour, participants will receive expert explanations on safe cycling and various theft protection options. Anja Milewski will also provide tips and information specifically for women, such as self-assertion or counseling options in Nordhorn. Tricky traffic situations will be explained, and behavioral recommendations will be given.

Milewski, Reurik, and van der Heiden have joined forces to bundle information and give women an overview of safety needs. The cycling tour is part of the prevention project "Experiencing Safety", which aims to educate and empower women in the community.

Further dates for "Experiencing Safety" (not exclusively for women) can be found on the project's website. The project will also have an additional date on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 2 PM.
