Tesla Unveils Design for Cyber SUV, Sparking Excitement Among Enthusiasts

Tesla has surprised its fanbase with the revelation of a new vehicle based on the Cybertruck platform – a three-row SUV or a CyberVan, according to reports. The design, showcased in a video posted on Tesla's official X account, appears to be inspired by the Cybertruck, with the same front end and stainless steel exterior.

For years, Tesla enthusiasts have been longing for a large three-row SUV, with the Model X, while selling in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, not considered a true full-sized SUV by many due to its 117-inch wheelbase. This new development could potentially target the $1T+ SUV market.

The potential production of the Cyber SUV could potentially increase Tesla's market cap by 20% to 30%, as suggested by Boring Investor, due to economies of scale and FSD synergies. Matt Van Swol stated that the new vehicle is exactly what everyone wants.

Omar Qazi, a Tesla influencer, expressed interest in buying the Cyber SUV if it were to be produced. Another Tesla fan, Mr. Fundman, also expressed excitement about the possibility of a Cyber SUV. Owners with large families and those seeking a more spacious option have been urging Tesla to create a bigger vehicle.

The video also featured another upcoming Tesla vehicle, the Robotaxi. The design was likely shot at Tesla's design studio in Hawthorne, California, or at the Palo Alto engineering office.

However, the question remains whether it's worth developing and producing another vehicle on the same chassis if demand for the Cybertruck isn't strong enough. Demand for the Cybertruck has been lower than Tesla initially expected, with only about 20,000 units annually.

Tesla currently has the installed capacity to produce around 130,000 Cybertrucks per year, but the excess production could be utilized with the introduction of a Cybertruck-based SUV. The vehicle has an enclosed compartment instead of a traditional truck bed.

The reveal of the Cyber SUV comes at a time when Tesla has been involved in internal disputes and efforts to achieve production records with fewer staff. It's speculated that Tesla revealed this unannounced vehicle in advance likely as part of a strategic move to generate interest and control the narrative around its new model. This move suggests a desire to maintain market attention amid challenges.
