Environmental Awareness Day hosted by Paderborn 07 Sports Club

The city of Paderborn is set to participate in the Sustainability Day of SC Paderborn 07 on Friday, September 12th, starting at 4:00 PM, at the Home Deluxe Arena. This event, organised in collaboration with several entities including the ASP, VHS, STEB, and Central Control Support Staff, promises an afternoon filled with educational activities and opportunities for sustainable action.

One of the main attractions of the day will be a football agility course. Participants will have the chance to try their luck at shooting balls through wastewater pipes and into ASP's trash cans. This fun activity serves a serious purpose, as the ASP will use the event to raise awareness about the problems caused by electronic waste.

In line with this, visitors are invited to bring their old phones for proper recycling. The ASP will raffle a signed SC Paderborn 07 jersey among those who hand in their old mobile phones. Electronic waste, after all, is the world's fastest-growing waste stream, and every little bit helps in reducing this growing issue.

The VHS Paderborn will also be present, informing about their autumn program. Education for sustainable development (ESD) is a central element of their offerings, ensuring that the next generation is well-equipped to face the challenges of a sustainable future.

Sustainability in Paderborn is approached holistically, guided by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The city focuses on climate protection, resource-saving urban development, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, and achieving climate neutrality by 2035 for the city administration and 2040 for the entire city.

The City Drainage Operation Paderborn (STEB) contributes significantly to sustainability in Paderborn through flood protection, climate change adaptation, resource conservation, and other contributions. The Central Control Support Staff will also be present, ensuring the smooth running of the event.
