Epping Asylum Hotel Witnesses Physical Attack, Claims Police, Following Incidents of Arson with Flare Lights

In the town of Epping, England, a series of events unfolded last Friday evening that has left authorities investigating. The Bell Hotel, which currently houses asylum seekers, became the centre of a disturbance after reports of antisocial behaviour and an assault.

The police were called to the scene following reports of people throwing firecrackers and smoke bombs. According to the authorities, the behaviour at the Bell Hotel marked a significant departure from the peaceful protests they had previously witnessed. The Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow described this behaviour as antisocial.

A 49-year-old man from Harlow was arrested in connection with the assault at the Bell Hotel. The Chief Superintendent also stated that assaulting those living at the hotel is not peaceful. Furthermore, Mr. Anslow categorically denied reports that residents of the hotel were throwing flares, stating that such actions were not peaceful.

The incident at the Bell Hotel involved the throwing of firecrackers, smoke bombs, and an assault. The Chief Superintendent described these items as not peaceful. He also stated that flares were being lit and thrown by those purporting to protest.

To address the antisocial behaviour, a dispersal order was put in place on Friday evening, giving officers the power to disperse anyone suspected of anti-social behaviour. A Section 42 Notice was also issued to one man yesterday evening under the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001.

It's important to note that the antisocial behaviour at the Bell Hotel was not carried out by legitimate protesters. The police stated that the behaviour was not peaceful. The Chief Superintendent also stated that surrounding and intimidating people living in the hotel is not peaceful.

Protests against asylum seekers housed in the Bell Hotel were led by far-right groups across various UK cities, including Epping. However, the text does not specify a direct physical attack inside the hotel itself.

The man arrested in connection with the assault at the Bell Hotel remains in custody as the investigation continues. The authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. The police reiterate their commitment to maintaining peace and order in the community.
