Errors on the road resulting in tragic outcomes

In the heart of Neuss, a shocking event unfolded on the evening of June 11, 2021, as a car accident occurred on Federal Road 477 at the entrance to Bruchrandweg. The incident, which took place at 19:20, resulted in a head-on collision between two vehicles.

The accident involved a car driven by a 52-year-old man from Mönchengladbach and another driven by a 72-year-old man from Dormagen. Regrettably, the 52-year-old man from Mönchengladbach has since passed away as a result of the accident, as of June 15, 2021. Three other individuals were partially severely injured in the incident.

The scene of the accident was a chaotic one, with the federal road closed for approximately two hours for the investigation and removal of the vehicles. Traffic was diverted during the closure to maintain safety and minimise disruption. The investigation of the traffic accident was assigned to the local police department, as is usual for traffic accidents in Germany.

The fire department was on the scene, using a drone for overhead shots to aid in the investigation. However, no photos were released to the public. Significant material damage was caused to the vehicles involved, rendering them no longer roadworthy.
