Escalated Smart Traffic Control: PCFC Reports a Staggering 401% Increase in Enforcement During the Initial Half of 2025
In the second half of 2025, the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) has outlined four significant initiatives aimed at addressing ongoing issues in their ports.
The first initiative is a 90-day clearance campaign, which is one of the key strategies for improving efficiency and reducing congestion in the ports. This campaign is expected to run for three months, starting from mid-2025.
Another initiative is the implementation of a centralized operations dashboard. This system will provide real-time data and analytics, enabling the PCFC to monitor and manage port operations more effectively.
Infrastructure and signage audits are also part of the initiatives for the second half of 2025. These audits will help identify any issues with the port's infrastructure and signage, allowing for timely repairs and improvements.
Perhaps the most ambitious of the initiatives is the development of predictive intelligence systems. These systems aim to be operational by the end of 2025 and are designed to support proactive enforcement measures by 2026. The goal of these systems is to enable fully proactive enforcement, allowing the PCFC to address issues before they become problems.
The Security Control and Command Division of PCFC will lead smart enforcement through advanced technology and multi-agency coordination. Other participating entities include regulatory bodies and operational departments within the PCFC ecosystem, such as Trakhees, which is responsible for regulatory oversight, building permits, urban planning, and inspections.
These institutions will work together to support a comprehensive and proactive enforcement and regulatory strategy on infrastructure, traffic enforcement, and sustainable growth. Targeted mechanisms for addressing the issues include reduction campaigns, fast-track responses, and audit-driven solutions.
As of mid-year 2025, there were 651 active cases in three categories: container-related violations, unmarked trailers, and infrastructure issues. These initiatives are expected to help reduce these numbers and improve the overall efficiency and safety of the PCFC's ports.
