Escaped Police Custody with Stolen Moped
In the early hours of August 23, an exciting and somewhat chaotic scene unfolded on Gummersbacher Street. Police officers attempted to stop a moped, but the driver, along with a passenger, decided to flee.
The moped in question was discovered to have been previously hot-wired and stolen from a parking lot in Bergneustadt-Wiedenest. The high-speed chase ended on the grounds of a car dealership on Gummersbacher Street, where the fleeing individuals abandoned the moped with the engine still running and continued their escape on foot.
During the chase, they managed to damage a new vehicle parked on the dealership's lot. The two individuals involved in the incident are a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old from Gummersbach.
The fleeing individuals were eventually found and temporarily arrested by the authorities. However, the identities of the two teenagers have not been publicly disclosed. Once apprehended, they were handed over to their legal guardians.
