Atlas Air Expands Global Reach with New Collaborations

Atlas Air, the world's largest operator of Boeing 747 freighters, has entered into new collaborations with Etihad Cargo and DSV, extending its global reach and scaling capacity.

Under these agreements, Atlas Air is operating four newbuild Boeing 777-200 freighters for Europe-based MSC Air Cargo. The aircraft will be used on transcontinental routes, including via DSV's main U.S. hub in Huntsville, Alabama, and Luxembourg. This collaboration is a strategic step for Etihad Cargo to scale capacity and extend global reach.

Atlas Air has also signed a long-term charter agreement with DSV, giving it commercial control of a Boeing 777-200 freighter. The Boeing 777 freighters offer a maximum payload of 103 tons and a range of nearly 5,000 miles, ensuring consistent, high-quality performance across key transcontinental routes. Stefan Krikken, senior vice president at DSV, stated that the new program ensures consistent, high-quality performance across key transcontinental routes, including the Huntsville-Luxembourg corridor.

Atlas Air has a long-standing relationship with DSV, having operated Boeing 747 jumbo jets on their behalf in the past. The Huntsville-Luxembourg corridor is a vital trade lane for DSV.

In addition, Atlas Air has been enlisted by Etihad Airways and DSV for dedicated freighter aircraft and crew services. Etihad Airways has signed a dedicated contract with Atlas Air for a Boeing 777 freighter service between Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and Madrid, Spain, starting in August. The Boeing 777 freighter for Etihad Airways is a newly delivered production aircraft from Boeing.

Etihad's cargo division has also wet leased a Boeing 747-400 freighter from Western Global Airlines to support new service to London and Shenzhen, China, in June.

Amazon has also signed a long-term charter agreement with Atlas Air, granting them commercial control over a Boeing 777-200 freighter. However, the frequency of the service between Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and Madrid has not been specified for the 777 freighter operated by Atlas Air for Etihad Airways.

The new 777 freighters operated by Atlas Air for Etihad Airways are also newly delivered production aircraft from Boeing. The frequency of the service between these destinations is yet to be announced.

Atlas Air's expansion into new collaborations demonstrates its commitment to providing reliable and efficient air cargo services to its partners. The new program is expected to strengthen Atlas Air's position as a leading air cargo provider in the industry.
