EU and US Enhance Cooperation Relations
In a series of security policy discussions, Member of Parliament Josef Oster invites Annette Lehnigk-Emden, the President of the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology, and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw), to Koblenz on October 1, 2025. The event, taking place at 6:30 PM in the Rotunda of the Farmers' and Winemakers' Association, Karl-Tesche-Straße 3, promises to provide insights into current challenges, particularly regarding the acceleration of procurement processes.
Lehnigk-Emden, who is also the President of the Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAINBw), will be joining a distinguished list of guests in this discussion series. Previously, Vice Admiral Carsten Stawitzki, the national armaments director, was a guest in the series.
The BAAINBw, a significant and influential employer in its region, is responsible for the central procurement of the Bundeswehr. The high motivation of its employees, as stated by Josef Oster, reflects the importance of this role in ensuring the readiness of the German armed forces.
Fast procurement, Oster emphasises, requires the creation of legal prerequisites. The Planning and Procurement Acceleration Act is being pursued as a means to achieve this. The discussion with Lehnigk-Emden will delve into these matters, offering valuable perspectives on the current state of defence procurement.
All interested citizens are cordially invited to attend the discussion series. Registration can be made by email at [email protected] or by phone at 0261/91496636. Admission to the discussion series is free, but registration is requested for organisational reasons.
Josef Oster, the host of the security policy discussion series, emphasises the importance of discussing the framework conditions and the role of Koblenz as a procurement site for the Bundeswehr, particularly in times of debates about conscription, security policy turning points, and growing global political tensions.
Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions of the expert during the discussion, making it a unique opportunity to engage with one of the key figures in German defence procurement.
