Eurobasket 2025: A Multi-Nation Tournament Awaits

The highly-anticipated Eurobasket 2025 tournament is set to take place from August 27 to September 14, with cities in Latvia, Cyprus, Finland, and Poland hosting the event.

The Group stages will see some exciting matchups. Group A will take place at the Arena Riga in Latvia, where the current European champions, Spain, will compete. Group B will be held at the Tempere Deck Arena in Finland, while Group C will take place at the Spyros Kyprianou Arena in Cyprus. Group D will be hosted in Katowice, Poland.

Spain, led by current national coach Sergio Scariolo, is one of the favourites to defend their title, having won the gold medal in the previous edition of the Eurobasket. Juancho Hernangómez scored a total of 27 points when Spain secured the gold medal. However, Scariolo has announced that he will not continue after the European Championship.

Serbia, another top contender, is a three-time European champion (Greece 1995, Spain 1997, and Turkey 2001). Under the leadership of Svetislav Pešić, Serbia boasts NBA pivot Nikola Jokić in its ranks. Serbia won the bronze medal in the recent Paris 2024 Olympics, and they are placed in Group A of the Eurobasket 2025, alongside Turkey, Czech Republic, Portugal, and Estonia.

Germany, led by Alex Mumbru and currently being the world champion, is another top favourite for the Eurobasket 2025. France, with a gold medal in the 2013 European Championship under their belt, is also expected to make a strong showing.

The final will be held on September 14, with the bronze medal game and the semi-finals taking place on the same day. The arena for the final phase of the tournament, including the final, has not been specified yet.
