Event Series: UN-Ltd. - for a democratic, borderless Europe
The event series "UN-Ltd. - for a democratic, borderless Europe" will take place from May 3rd to 11th, 2025. This series aims to foster dialogue and understanding, encouraging discussions on the importance of unity and cooperation in Europe. Lectures and Discussions
Several lectures and discussions are scheduled throughout the week. On May 7th, Prof. Dr. Arnd Bauerkaemper will give a lecture titled "May 8th, 1945 - Consequences and Interpretations in the Two German States" in the small festival hall of the town hall, Detmold. On the same day, Dr. Alessandro Bellardita will discuss "True Crime Democracy - How our Constitution came about" in the cafeteria of the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Berufskolleg.
Performances and Exhibitions
The youth theater Karambolage from Zeitz will perform "Emil and the Detectives" in Leopoldinum, Detmold, on May 3rd, 2025, at 5 PM. Additionally, an exhibition titled "Women in Divided Germany" will be opened at the town hall, Detmold, on May 9th, 2025, at 3 PM.
European Market and Official Celebration
Don't miss the popular European market at the Rosental-Galerie, Detmold, on May 10th, 2025, from 10 AM to 1 PM. The official Europe celebration of the city portal will take place within the framework of the district festival in Heiligenkirchen on May 10th, 2025, at 5:45 PM.
Partnership Anniversary and German Dialogue
Detmold will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the city partnership with Zeitz on May 9th, 2025, with a German dialogue between the mayors of Detmold and Zeitz.
