European Automotive Research and Innovation Partnership Proposal Endorsed by Our Site

The European Commission has proposed a new Research and Innovation Partnership focusing on Automotive, aiming to scale up innovation and industrial deployment, and ensure Europe's competitiveness in future mobility. This initiative, available for reading on the provided link, complements the upcoming European Connected and Automated Vehicle Alliance (ECAVA), planned for 2025-2027.

The proposal, developed in collaboration with ACEA-EUCAR, ERTRAC, and EARPA, as well as the currently-running 2ZERO and CCAM Partnerships, is centered around boosting Europe's technological sovereignty and enhancing global competitiveness. It also aims to close the innovation gap and align public and private R&I efforts along the full value chain.

The new Automotive Partnership is designed to improve coherence, reduce time-to-market, and enable large-scale innovation actions. It prioritises shared strategic objectives, strong industrial leadership, streamlined governance, and a supportive regulatory environment.

ECAVA, paving the way for the broader Automotive Partnership, aims to coordinate policy, funding, and implementation efforts for connected and automated mobility. The proposal responds to the European Commission's Automotive Industry Action Plan and Competitiveness Compass, and is intended to help shape next-generation initiatives.

The initiative urges for strong engagement of all parties to shape next-generation initiatives in mobility for 2025. A supporting position paper is also available for reading on a separate link. The proposal is for a new European Research & Innovation Partnership focusing on Automotive under the next Multi-Annual Financial Framework.

The aim of this partnership is to accelerate a competitive and more integrated R&I framework focusing on inclusive, sustainable, and accessible mobility through technological innovation. The proposal is a call for action to engage all concerned parties in shaping future mobility initiatives, and is a significant step towards enhancing Europe's competitiveness in the automotive sector.
