On Sunday, September 14th, the historic grounds of the P.D. Rasspe Soehne company at Stoeckchenstrasse 17 in Solingen will join other significant locations across Germany in opening their doors to the public as part of the nationwide Open Monument Day.

From 11:00 to 16:00, visitors are invited to explore the P.D. Rasspe Soehne company grounds, but it's recommended to wear sturdy footwear due to ongoing construction work. The protected storage building from 1906 and the administration building from 1920 will be accessible through guided tours. A photo exhibition and lectures by a former employee will be part of the programme, taking place at 12:00 and 14:00, and more frequently if needed.

Just a stone's throw away, the Evangelical Luther Church at Koelner Strasse 1a will also be open to the public. Constructed between 1898 and 1901, this neo-Romanesque central building will welcome visitors from 12:00 to 18:00 on the 14th. Guided tours of the church will be offered at every full hour, and a tower climb is possible. The community will present ongoing renovation measures at the church.

In addition, Hofschaft Haasenmuehle, an ensemble of timber-frame buildings built between the 17th and 19th centuries, will be open to the public. Lectures on the history of the buildings will be held every half hour from 11:00 to 17:00.

The Day of Open Heritage, a nationwide cultural event, has been organised by the German Foundation for Monument Protection since 1993. Its aim is to raise awareness of the importance of cultural and archaeological heritage. The nationwide program for the Day of Open Heritage can be found at www.tag-des-offenen-denkmals.de.

Please note that due to the nature of the P.D. Rasspe Soehne company grounds, they are not suitable for mobility-impaired visitors. Unfortunately, the objects at the P.D. Rasspe Soehne company grounds are not associated with the Day of Open Heritage, which is a separate event from the locations mentioned.

Visitors are encouraged to explore these unique cultural sites and learn about the rich history of Solingen on September 14th.
