Europe's Leading Travel Destination: Georgia, According to Wanderlust

The cities of Tbilisi and Batumi in Georgia are vying for the title of Europe's Most Desirable City in the annual Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards. This prestigious competition, organised by the UK-based travel publication Wanderlust, sees major European destinations such as Athens, Berlin, Bologna, Bordeaux, Brussels, Budapest, Dublin, Edinburgh, Istanbul, Madrid, Porto, Prague, Riga, Vienna, Vilnius, and others also competing for the coveted award.

Wanderlust, one of the world's most influential travel publications, with nearly 138,000 monthly copies in circulation and over 1.6 million visitors to its website each year, has announced the competition. The awards celebrate the world's most desirable countries, cities, regions, and emerging destinations across categories such as adventure, culture and heritage, gastronomy, sustainable travel, and nature and wildlife.

The Georgian National Tourism Administration has announced that Tbilisi and Batumi have been shortlisted for the title of Europe's Most Desirable Tourist Destination. Readers of the Wanderlust travel magazine have the opportunity to vote for the winners of the 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, which will take place in London on November 5, 2025, at the National Gallery. Voting is now open and will close on October 17, 2025.

Participants in the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards are entered into prize draws worth up to £70,000 in travel experiences. The winners of the awards will be revealed at the 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards ceremony.

This year, the competition is particularly fierce, with Tbilisi and Batumi going head-to-head against some of Europe's most popular cities. Tbilisi, with its unique blend of Eastern and Western influences, offers visitors a rich cultural experience, while Batumi, with its modern architecture and beautiful Black Sea coast, provides a more contemporary and vibrant atmosphere.

The Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards are open for public voting, so if you have a favourite European city, make sure to cast your vote and help determine which city will be crowned Europe's Most Desirable City in 2025.
