Evacuation advisories in regions impacted by the Kingston fire in Newfoundland and Labrador have been rescinded.

A devastating wildfire that struck Conception Bay North in August has left many residents returning to their communities to find only the concrete foundations and still-standing chimneys of their homes. This unfortunate event marks the second wildfire to hit the area this summer, with the first occurring in May.

The August wildfire, which started on the 4th, affected communities across a 15-kilometre stretch of coastline on the northwest shore of Conception Bay. It has destroyed approximately 311 structures in total, with nearly 200 structures being lost in several communities. The first wildfire in May had destroyed about 11 homes in the town of Small Point-Adam's Cove-Blackhead-Broad Cove.

The communities affected by the August wildfire but are no longer under evacuation alerts include Small Point-Adam's Cove, Blackhead, and Broad Cove, as well as Western Bay, Ochre Pit Cove, and Kingston. However, the fire remains under an alert despite the lifting of evacuation orders for these communities.

The wildfire in August occurred in Conception Bay North, Newfoundland and Labrador, and the report about the wildfire was first published on Aug. 30, 2025. The fire was classified as being held by Friday.

The leader of the fire team in Conception Bay North, which coordinated wildlife protection measures in August, is Shane Curtis. The province has expressed its sympathies to the affected communities and is working to provide support and assistance to those in need.
