Event at Castle Pond Involving Bats During Nighttime
Explore the Nightlife of Bats: A Free Bat Excursion in Chemnitz
Are you intrigued by the mysterious world of bats? Then mark your calendars for an exciting event coming up on September 5th!
Despite common misconceptions, few people have had close encounters with bats, making this excursion an unique opportunity for observation. Julia Vogel from the Environmental Office of the City of Chemnitz, Holger Tippmann, and the team of the Young Nature Guardians Chemnitz (BUND) will lead the tour, and a volunteer bat expert, Bernd Meier-Lammering, will also be joining them.
The meeting point for the bat excursion is the footpath near the "Milchhäuschen" café, Schlossteichstraße 20, at 7:30 PM. During the evening tour, you'll learn fascinating facts about the peculiarities, lifestyle, and protection of bats.
Bats see with their ears and fly with their wings, and a detector will be used to make the ultrasonic calls of the bats audible. As twilight begins, you might even get to witness hunting bats in close proximity!
This family-friendly event is free to attend, so bring along your loved ones for a night of education and adventure. Don't miss out on this chance to delve into the fascinating world of bats!
