In a thrilling conclusion to the first-ever Triton ONE $8,000 Main Event, held at the Landing Casino inside the Jeju Shinhwa World resort, Joshua Gebissa, a former football player from Germany, emerged victorious.

The final day of the tournament saw numerous double-ups, with players like Punnat Punsri, a Thai businessman and one of the most accomplished poker aficionados in the Asia-Pacific region, and Artur Martirosian securing multiple double-ups. However, it was Gebissa who would ultimately come out on top.

The final table bubble was reached when Ruogo Wen eliminated Chao Li. Wen continued his impressive run, eliminating Igor Yaroshevskyy and Hongjun Zhao in quick succession. Daiki Shingae, who had taken over the chip lead after eliminating Kaoru Kishimoto, was eliminated by Gebissa, setting the stage for the final showdown.

Punsri and Gebissa engaged in a fierce heads-up battle, with both players doubling multiple times. But it was Gebissa who would have the last laugh, eliminating Punsri to secure the win. As a reward for his victory, Gebissa received an additional $100,000 in tournament coins for the popular online poker app.

Punsri, despite finishing as the runner-up, still walked away with a substantial consolation prize of $1,205,775. Other notable finishers included Wen in third place, earning $1,495,675, and Shingae in fourth place, taking home $1,284,400.

A total of 1,046 players participated in the tournament, creating a prize pool of $7,607,558. The series, which is expected to continue with the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju II in the following two weeks, has proven to be a hotbed of high-stakes poker action.

Prior to this tournament, Gebissa's largest recorded live poker cash was only $40,099. His win at the Triton ONE $8,000 Main Event marks a significant milestone in his poker career. As for Punsri, he had already racked up more than $26.2 million in tournament cashes prior to this series, including four Triton Poker Super High Roller Series titles.

In an unexpected twist, it was revealed that Joshua Gebissa qualified for the tournament through the satellite program of title sponsor QQPK. His journey from the satellites to the top of the poker world is sure to inspire many aspiring players.
