Thiago Alcรกntara, a midfielder who rose through the ranks of Barcelona's esteemed academy, is set to return to his former club in a new role. According to reports, Thiago will join Hansi Flick's backroom team at FC Barcelona as an assistant coach.

Thiago, who spent four years at Liverpool, has experience playing under some of the world's best coaches, including Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. During his time at Liverpool, he played 98 times, scoring three goals, and won an FA Cup, a League Cup, and the Community Shield.

However, Thiago's Liverpool career came to an end last season, as he made only one appearance for the team in his final year with the club. Since then, he has been without a team.

Thiago's return to Barcelona could occur as early as their Champions League match against Newcastle United, scheduled for Thursday, September 18. Barcelona's Champions League campaign this season will begin with a home fixture against Atletico Madrid.

Thiago's tenure at Bayern Munich was highly successful, as he won seven titles during his time there. He joined Bayern in 2013, following Guardiola's arrival as manager, and was a key player in the team's success.

Thiago's tactical expertise and experience from his playing career are expected to be valuable assets to Flick's coaching staff at Barcelona. Thiago previously supported Flick as an intern in 2024, and it appears that he will bring that knowledge and experience back to his former club.

Thiago's return to Barcelona is an exciting development for the club, as they look to build on their success and compete at the highest level. As Thiago travels with the squad for their upcoming visit to St. James' Park, fans will be eagerly awaiting his official return to the team.
