In the heart of Naples, the Fuorigrotta stadium was the centre of attention as fans of Napoli and Beşiktaş prepared for their much-anticipated match. The tension was palpable, with security measures in place since Tuesday, as approximately 700 police officers and carabinieri ensured the safety of all attendees.

Two designated meeting points were established: one in Caserta, just before the Caserta Sud toll booth of the Autostrada del Sole, and the second at the maritime station, for those arriving in Naples by plane or train from Rome. Fans were searched and checked before being authorized to leave from these meeting points.

Upon arrival at the stadium, fans were escorted by carabinieri and police armoured vehicles. The Carsi of Besiktas, one of the oldest fan bases in the world, were closely monitored by police and Carabinieri due to concerns about crowd control and security. Their counterparts, the Carsi of Napoli, were also present, known for their passionate support and political activism.

To maintain order, a cordon of at least 50 stewards kept Napoli fans and those of Beşiktaş away from the fence that separates the A curve from the guest sector. During the match interval, an additional 100 stewards were present to separate the two groups of fans, those of the A curve and Nisida. Furthermore, a panel was installed alongside the net, preventing anything from passing from one sector to another.

The match was a lively affair, with fans from both sides constantly singing their songs. However, the tension signals registered during the match do not bode well for the return match, which is expected to be a high-risk game. The questura's plan was to distribute access to the Fuorigrotta stadium throughout the afternoon to manage the large number of fans expected.

As the final whistle blew, the outcome of the match remained undisclosed, leaving both sets of fans eagerly awaiting the return leg. The stage is set for another exciting chapter in the rivalry between Napoli and Beşiktaş.
