Expanded Data Hub Dedicated to Huge Thermal Energy Storage Devices

The Large Heat Pump Information Portal, launched on behalf of the LandesEnergieAgentur Hessen, marks a significant step towards Germany's nationwide energy transition, as stated by Hessian Minister of Energy Kaweh Mansoori.

The new portal, developed by the Fraunhofer IEG, provides a wealth of information on large heat pumps, their technologies, refrigerant selection, and circuit variants. It serves as a comprehensive resource for planners and operators of heating networks and energy-intensive industries, offering knowledge about existing, practice-oriented solutions.

One of the key features of the portal is its extensive database, which includes detailed information on large heat pumps and their manufacturers, as well as insights into planned and implemented projects in Germany. Companies such as MVV Energie AG, ZEWOtherm, and iDM Energie are among those listed, offering large heat pumps for various applications, from hotels and multi-family houses to commercial and industrial properties.

The database offers multiple filter options for power range, temperature range, and refrigerant category, making it easy for users to conduct targeted product searches. Additionally, the portal includes an integrated efficiency calculator, allowing users to compare the efficiency of different systems.

In combination with steam compressors, large heat pumps can generate heat up to 300°C, making them a reliable solution for heat generation up to 200°C. The portal aims to fill a crucial gap in the path towards climate-neutral heating networks and industrial processes.

At the launch of the Large Heat Pump Information Portal, Kaweh Mansoori emphasised its importance in the nationwide energy transition. MVV Energie AG, which is building large river heat pumps in Mannheim with heat outputs of 100 and 150 megawatts, developed with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Siemens, also attended the event.

The ZEWOtherm and iDM Energie companies, known for their focus on quality and sustainability, were also represented at the launch. The Large Heat Pump Information Portal is a testament to Germany's commitment to a sustainable future and a valuable resource for those navigating the transition to climate-neutral heating networks and industrial processes.
